Does anyone play tribes ascend

Where the thing that keeps people playing is a skill based matching system - alongside your exp level you are also given a skill level, your 7v7 CTF gives you an actual number relative to who you have defeated.

For example if the average skill level on my team was 20 with the other team being 30, but we still manage to win, my players gain a few points the their players lose a few points respectively. Imagine how much of a competitive sense you would drive into new players if they were challenged to defeat players of similar skill levels alongside 4 of their buddies and a couple of randoms.

It would actually give some structure and urge to win not gen camp to a their everyday games. Something that this would require, but should have already been implemented, is in-game voice support so that people can talk to one another. With this mode there is no skill number but only a leaderboard rank, which changes depending on who you play.

In essence the thing that will keep people playing is if you bring competition into the fundamentals of the game. Do you know why I decided to play this game? Because it was one of the highest rated games in a very long time. Do you know how much money similarly rated games are making? You have unequivocally failed to give this game to the people, despite designing one of the best games for them.

But then how could anyone take the game seriously? The bugs, the poor balance choices the plasma gun? Same with the spectator mode, this game could be spectacular fun to watch, but no one can!!

But you could turn it all around and make the next big thing with some strategy. You have absolutely no idea how lucky you are to have gained the Tribes community, you will never, ever, find anything like us again, and I am fairly certain that none of your games will ever be as highly rated as this one and I mean that. This is your one and only chance to make something big, and I mean StarCraft big.

There is a gap in the market for an FPS esport - you have the capacity to fill that gap with TA, but you will never have that again. Not putting the resources into T:A will be the worst decision Hi-Rez ever makes, and will stop them from being the company that they could become.

Quotes of this post exist on The Wayback Machine. Copies of the original post, as far as I can tell, have been lost to the internet. But there is still a Reddit discussion of it. Why did HiRez Entertainment take down the Tribes: Ascend forums, and this post with it, to move the community towards a subreddit instead? This is simple datacide on a giant scale. Tyler Wilde: It's not that old, but what makes Tribes: Ascend an interesting game to return to is that many assume it's dead and gone.

Not so: You can still play Tribes: Ascend, even though it's delisted from Steam. It won't show up in searches, but the Steam page is still there and you can add it to your library and download it.

Ignore the error message at launch and log in with a Hi-Rez account the one I used back in still worked and you're good to go. There aren't many people in the servers, but managed to get a half-full game of capture the flag going. It's just as fun as I remembered, if bloated with weapons. I have no recollection of when throwing knives were added, but I spent 10 minutes chasing a friend around with them.

It sorta works, mostly, with an Xbox controller plugged in, kinda. There's the half-pipe, BMX biking, surfing, roller skating, flying disc, and of course, "footbag," which I assume they called it because Hacky Sack is a brand name. Though the flying disc, or frisbee as everyone else calls it, is still pretty fun.

Andy Chalk: I very rarely replay anything—I don't have enough time to keep up with new games, much less revisit old stuff I've already been through—but one exception is FEAR. It's an astoundingly good close-quarters shooter, with enemy AI that remains unsurpassed and one of the best shotguns in all of videogames. But what really does it for me is the absolutely off-the-hook visual chaos of its gunfights: There's smoke and dust and broken glass and little bits of crapola flying everywhere while the guns blast and the lights flash and I can't see a damn thing, so I just keep hosing the hallway and hope that whatever's at the other end is dead by the time I run out of bullets.

It's great. I've been through it three times already, and now I'm feeling the urge to do it again. Jody Macgregor: I'm replaying Epic 40, Final Liberation right now, a turn-based strategy game from that's still plenty of fun, whether you're commanding battalions of Imperial Guard and stompy titans, or watching its gloriously cheesy FMV cutscenes. ZedClampet: What is "old"? It's kind of weird, but I guess due to the constant advance of technology I tend to consider games just a few years old to be "old", but I have different standards for music, movies, etc.

But Half Life 2 is my answer. My son and I just played it recently using the co-op mod. We had a great time even though it was pretty much a cakewalk with two players. I hope people come back to this game soon. Last edited by GamerFan12 ; 18 Jun, pm. Showing 1 - 10 of 10 comments. I second the motion. Originally posted by GamerFan12 :. I just want a new tribes game so much. If a new Tribes version comes out I sure hope it comes with VR! I just reinstalled and people still playing it. It's nostalgia time! Civ View Profile View Posts.
