Street parties are enjoyable community events held in residential streets and are considered to be open solely to residents and surrounding neighbours. They allow for communities to unite to celebrate a national or regional occasion.

Often this involves opening up front gardens, laying out chairs and tables and sourcing food and drink. These parties can be held on a quiet residential road, in an apartment block or in a nearby local green space. All parties are self-organised by residents or a chosen 'neighbourhood committee'.
